Coronado Day #4

Today we decided to hop in the car and drive a few miles down the road to Silver Strand State Beach. I heard it was a beautiful beach with lots of sea shells, and that is exactly what we found.  The boys found so many shells and lots of sand dollars.  We even found a live sand dollar, which I didn't realize they were even ever once alive.  After the beach, we went to my favorite seafood restaurant, Brigantine, for dinner.  Then we headed to the Del where we took pictures on the beach, watched the sunset, and played freeze tag in the grassy area at the hotel overlooking the ocean.  (We played tag and made lots of friends every night at the Del.)  Check out two videos of us playing on the beach in the next post. This was another magical vacation day!

Time for bed after a long day!  We LOVE this hotel room and request it every year.  There are 2 bedrooms and two bathrooms.  Dylan gets stuck sleeping alone because he kicks and rolls around like crazy.  One night we found him curled up in a ball by the doorway completely passed out!

Coronado Day #3

After my morning run, I woke everyone up again.  We decided to start our day walking a few blocks to our favorite park on the island.  My desert boys (myself included) were too cold to go swimming, so we burned some energy at the park.  After lunch, we decided to suck it up and head out to the beach, even though it was a little colder than usual.  I was so glad we did!  That afternoon we saw dolphins (we actually saw them every day!), made more sand castles, swam our little hearts out, and dug for crabs.  The boys wanted to take the crabs home as new pets, but we convinced them they needed to live in the ocean and we would visit them next year.

And Dylan insisted on pushing him.

I was way too cold to get in the water, so my favorite man sat with me while the kids played in the waves.

Coronado Day #2

Since I no longer know how to sleep in, I woke up early and decided to go for a 2.5 mile run along the beach.  The weather was gorgeous and my view while running was amazing.  When I got back to the hotel room, everyone was still sleeping, so I enjoyed my hot tea and book on our patio.  I finally woke everyone up after 9:00AM.  Apparently my kids turn into teenagers on vacation!  After breakfast, we spent the entire day at the beach.  We made sand castles, swam in the waves, searched for seashells, and relaxed all day!  It was the perfect way to start out our vacation.  Here are some highlights from Day 2.

7th Annual San Diego Vacation

I know it has been a very long time since I updated the blog, so I figured I would start with our annual Coronado vacation. We spent 7 amazing days on this island and then drove up to Carlsbad to check out Legoland for the first time. This trip was absolutely amazing! Here are some highlights from our first day.

Introducing the car fairy! She comes out on long road trips and provides fun games, treats, and even movies. I can’t take the credit because my awesome neighbors gave me the idea, but I can say this was the best drive ever! (No judging the back of the car)

Roadside Bingo was a great game, thank you Dollar Tree! This took up over an hour of our drive and the boys were helping each other out.

We finally arrived and went straight to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Miguel’s.

They have the best queso jalapeño dip! 

After dinner we decided to walk down to the beach to put our feet in the water. The boys decided that meant to swim in the water with their clothes on! Oh well, this is vacation!

This is definitely their happy place!
